AGENDA
1) OXGRAPH XDI GRAPH CONVERSION UTILITY
Mike Schwartz showed the new OxGraph XDI graph conversion utility developed by OpenXDI Project lead developer Yuriy Zabrovarnyy.
Yuriy first showed the packages being created in the OpenXDI project.
He
then showed the new OxGraph utility that shows the same XDI graph in
three formats: XDI statement format, JSON serialization format, and XDI
visual graph notation format.
All
in attendence were very enthusiastic about this development, and
congratuled Yuriy on this very elegantly designed utility. The visual
graph representation is particularly impressive, and will be a wonderful
teaching tool, starting next week at the Internet Identity Workshop.
2) XDI MESSAGING PATTERNS PAGE
Drummond pointed out that he posted this page at:
It includes the pattern for signed messages.
3) MODIFICATIONS TO SIMPLIFIED JSON SERIALIZATION FORMAT
Drummond
sent a message to the list about two small modifications that he
realized were necessary when doing the XDI Message Patterns page.
This
proposal is currently controversial - Mike and Yuriy are not sure that
the second level of nesting JSON serialization is worth it. They are
worried about recursion. Drummond pointed out that it's hard to justify
why to use JSON serialization at all if we serialize one level of the
graph in JSON but not the second level needed by XDI $add and $mod
levels, since in those message types it is the second level that carries
the XDI literal data, and that data would now need two passes of
encoding (URI encoding followed by XRI encoding).
Drummond
wants to study whether this pattern recurses any further, or whether it
is limited to either two levels or three levels.
# DRUMMOND to do this analysis and report back.
4) GIOVANNI'S PAPER
Giovanni
sent a 2 page paper to the list that summarizes the relationship
between XDI and RDF Named Graphs. It will be presented in a poster
session at ESWC 2011 next month.
Giovanni asked if TC members could read the paper closely and then return any feedback to him.
Mike suggested sending it to Cam Newton for his feedback.
# JOSEPH to forward it to Cam Newton for his feedback.
Giovanni
also noted that the resolution mechanism discussed in his paper bears
on the XDI synonym discussion. Drummond will look at it again from that
perspective too.
# DRUMMOND to review Giovanni's paper to understand the impact on synonyms.
4) NEXT CALLS
Internet
Identity Workshop is next week so we will not have a call next week.
European Identity Conference is the week after and both Drummond and
Mike are attending. Since that will be in Munich, the call will be in
evening, so we will play it by ear if we can do that call.
The
week after that is Privacy/Identity/Innovation 2011 in Santa Clara
where Drummond will be presenting, so he may not be able to attend that
call.
------------
ONGOING ISSUES LIST
Each of these is a candidate for the agenda for future calls.
* TRANSACTIONAL INTEGRITY FOR XDI (added 2011-03-24)
Since
versioning, as one example, involves multiple transactions that must
be commited as a group, we will need to address transactional
integrity. Specifically, we need to define how this will be handled at
the protocol level, vs. the implementation level.
* PROPOSED CONSTRUCTS/OPERATORS FOR XDI
Discuss the following wiki page originally posted by Giovanni:
* DICTIONARY STRUCTURE
Mike would like an example of the PDX dictionary as soon as we can do it.
* EQUIVALENCE SEMANTICS
Close on whether we need an additional $ word that is the equivalent
of Higgins Personal Data Model (PDM) semantics of h:correlation,
which is not as strong as $is.
* COOL URIS
Continue previous discussion about the use of standard RDF URIs in XDI:
