Subject: RE: [External] [xdi] Agenda: XDI TC Telecon Friday 9:00 - 10:30AM PT 2013-01-11

I’ve taken a closer look at EQUIVALENCE LINKS AND REFERENCE LINKS (DRUMMOND & MARKUS).  I think it is some very good work.  However, there are reasons I must most against making this last call at this time. Specifically, there are at least four separate proposals combined into this one proposal, and that is without seeing if any new syntax is in the examples.  Also, I want to look at $ref! more.  For that reason I propose a one week wait before discussing this proposal further.  Lastly, many of the rules are compound and so an implementation could comply with one part but not with another,  possibly clouding the issue of compliance.  During that week I will split the proposal into the four proposals and split the rules into single test constraints.  If I do not get that done before next Friday then I will not stand in the way of last call then.

Kind regards,

Bill Barnhill

***** PRESENTATIONS/DISCUSSIONS *****

--- ABNF FOR INNER LOCAL ROOT ADDRESSING

In a discussion this week, Markus and Drummond realized there was a very elegant solution to the question of how to address inside a cross-reference. There are several use cases for this, including being able to reference a literal value in an incoming XDI message for purposes of evaluating that value in a link contract policy _expression_.

This solution requires exactly one change to the XDI graph ABNF. See:

***** DECISION POINTS FOR THIS CALL *****

This week's decision queue is the following set of proposals:

--- EQUIVALENCE LINKS AND REFERENCE LINKS (DRUMMOND & MARKUS)

This proposal has been updated to reflect the consensus to use two different XDI verbs - $ref and $is - to express two different kinds of equivalence.

Note also this paper referenced by Giovanni Bartolomeo:

We are ready to move this into Last Call provided there is consensus on the call.

--- XDI POLICY _expression_ (DRUMMOND & MARKUS)

Following on the discussion on the last TC telecon, a formal proposal has been posted for declarative policy expressions (vs. the former proposal to use _javascript_ expressions):

--- XDI MESSAGING PATTERNS (MARKUS)

--- XDI ADD OPERATION (MARKUS)

***** DECISION POINT QUEUE REVIEW *****
