Subject: LDAP/DSML additions to spec
The text below (in blue) is what I would propose adding to section 3.4 to give some support to the extensibility to the local access mechanisms to other protocols and mechanisms. John Veizades... 3.4 Local Access Local access is the process of interacting with a network endpoint to retrieve a representation of a network resource identified by an XRI. An HTTP/HTTPS local access protocol is specified here, but other local access protocols may be specified in the future. For instance a local access could be based on LDAP/DSML and though it is not specified in this document a local access mechanism based on either of these protocols can be easily described. An issue that would need to be addressed is the appropriate transformation of the XRI local part into an LDAP distinguished name. This would include normalization of the XRI local part string to the distinguished name syntax. Work on a LDAP/DSML local access resolution mechanism for XRIs is left to a future XRI specification.
