Subject: Minutes: XRI TC Calls Thursday 8PM PT USA/ Friday 9AM PT USA
Following are the minutes from last night's and today's XRI TC telecons. As with before, they combine the discussion from both calls. *** ASIA/NORTH AMERICA CALL *** * 8:00pm Thursday evening San Fransisco US * 11:00pm Thursday evening Washington DC US * 8:30am Friday morning Delhi India * 12:00pm Friday afternoon Tokyo Japan ATTENDING: Nat Peter Steve Drummond Kunal *** NORTH AMERICA/EUROPE CALL *** * 9:00am Friday morning San Fransisco US * Noon Friday Washington DC US * 8:00pm Friday evening Dubai UAE ATTENDING: Marty Dave Drummond Gabe Mike Ning 1) SYNTAX WORKING DRAFT 09B We reviewed XRI Syntax 2.0 Working Draft 09b. See: http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/14796/xri-syntax-V2.0-wd-9 b.doc DISCUSSION ON THURSDAY EVENING CALL: Following are notes of the line-by-line review: * Most except Peter had no strong preference on dash in "XRI normal form". Peter preferred no dash. * Nat suggested RE line 286 - 294 that we should suggest user agents help avoid spoofing by providing a strong visual cue about legitimate XRI delimiters. Something similar to "Users agents SHOULD display only defined XRI delimiter characters in a visually striking format." Note that Drummond proposed specific text in an email at http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/xri/200510/msg00008.html. * Line 457: The suggestion was to state this requirement in in more general form so we avoided a direct reference to XRI Metadata. * Line 678: ditto. DISCUSSION ON FRIDAY MORNING CALL: Following are notes of the line-by-line review: * Dave, Mike, and Gabe strongly preferred the hyphen in "XXX-normal form". Drummond to fix all instances including in glossary. * Clarify line 258. * Line 286 - 294: there was concensus on the approach proposed on the Thursday night call (see above.) * Fix line 344 to keep it with the table above. * Line 444 - change this to say "Applications transforming XRI references to IRI references MUST use..." * Line 457 - Change to say, "as explained in section 2.5.4". * Line 678 - change to: "While cross-references beginning with the GCS symbol $ MAY be considered significant in all cases, however failure to consider the rules defined in a specification governing a $ namespace may lead to false-negative comparisons. See section 2.1.4.1." Dave and Drummond agreed to coordinate putting out a final draft by Monday to solicit any final comments by next Wednesday night for the vote on Friday. 2) SCHEDULING OF THE SYNTAX VOTE The proposed time for a single joint telecon on which to hold the vote is 8am Pacific Friday Oct. 14 (as this is midnight Japan time for Nat). DISCUSSION ON THURSDAY EVENING CALL: It was agreed this time would work. DISCUSSION ON FRIDAY MORNING CALL: It was agreed this time would work, but that we should send out several reminders. 3) METADATA Not discussed on either call due to time restrictions. However Marty reported that the proposed text for $t should be submitted next week. 4) RESOLUTION Not discussed on either call due to time restrictions, although it was agreed that discussion of the proposed new requirements for proxy resolution and service description should begin on the mailing list.
