Subject: Minutes: Special XRI TC Telecon 2-3PM PT Tuesday 2008-12-09

Following are the minutes of a special unofficial telecon of the XRI TC at:

Date: Tuesday, 09 December 2008 USA
Time: 2:00PM - 3:00PM Pacific Time (22:00-23:00 UTC)

ATTENDING

Joseph Holsten
John Bradley
Drummond Reed
Markus Sabadello
Les Chasen
Nick Nicholas

AGENDA

1) INTRODUCTIONS

Joseph Holsten introduced himself. He's a college student that was
originally interested in Yadis and XRDS and now wants to join the broader
discovery specification effort.

2) XRI 3.0 SYNTAX PROPOSALS

This special telecon was dedicated to discussing the two key XRI 3.0 syntax
proposals:

	http://wiki.oasis-open.org/xri/XriThree/GcsDelimiter
	http://wiki.oasis-open.org/xri/XriThree/XrefDelimiter

Nick Nicholas started by walking us through the analysis he has published
at:

	http://wiki.oasis-open.org/xri/XriThree/XrefWalkthrough

This analysis of the rational behind these XRI 3.0 Syntax proposals is
exceptionally in-depth and well illustrated. TC members on the call thanked
Nick for producing it.

Key discussion points:

* Section 11 raises the question about what should be required/recommended
in XRI 3.0 Resolution with regard to an XRD corresponding to a global XRI
used as a subsegment.

* Section 12 explains the use case for "scare quotes" around a global XRI
(e.g., =drummond*(+skateboard) ) is that there are cases where an authority
wants to reuse an identifier but not inherit its semantics.

* Les asked to see more specific examples of how XDI RDF proposes to use the
proposed syntax, and how XDI RDF statements "expand".

# DRUMMOND and NICK took the action item to add examples of XDI RDF
statements and how they use the proposed XRI 3.0 syntax before Thursday's
telecon.

3) NEXT CALL

Our next call will be the regular XRI TC call on Thursday 2-3PM PT
(22:00-23:00 UTC).
