Subject: [ciq] FW: XML Addressing Standards

Hi CIQ TC members

Joe is the Chairman of the GCA Address Data Interchange Spec. project and he is well known in the postal
circles (UPU, USPS, CEN, etc). I had a very useful discussions with Joe (arranged by Linda of CPExchange)
at XML 2001. I am now preparing a presentation material for him as requested.

Regards

Ram

Subject: XML Addressing Standards

Ram, I have been asked to make a presentation to a meeting January 30 sponsored by the US Postal Service on XML based formats for addressing standards.  EDI formats are also being covered by other speakers.

I would like the work of your group to be included in the presentation, covering about twenty minutes.  I am planning to take a similar amount of time to discuss the ADIS format and what it is intended for.

If you by some chance will be in the US at that time, I can ask to have you included on the agenda.

If that is not practical, then is there another alternative?

One thing that I can do is to get on the OASIS web site and sign up as a member, which I do plan to do, but that is not enough to communicate the design goals, methodology or process of development of the work of your group, about which I would like to learn more.

I am wondering if you have a handout of some kind--that you use to make presentations--that you would allow me to duplicate for the meeting.  You could customize it if you wanted, and of course include your contact information.  That way, I could meet my goal of showing that this is an issue not just in the US but worldwide, and your project could be publicized, and presented as you think best.  The focus should be on the addressing standard, I think, rather than the other two formats that you are working on.

Let me know what you think.
