Subject: Re: *SPAM* [ciq] Fwd: Fw: use of GML in OASIS xAL

Hi Colin,

I could not make it to Canberra at the last minute due to some unexpected
personal issues.

Send me a soft copy of your edits and notes and I will look into it.

Regards,

Ram

Liz and I both agree that more prescription in the GML container would be a good idea.

Cheers
Colin
PS: I have gone through the Specification tidying up bits of grammar and consistency plus one or two suggestions. It is in hard copy at present.  I was intending to hand it to you yesterday in Canberra.

CIQ TC,

The revised draft V3.0 specifications (after 30 days public review) is close to
completion for another 60 day public review. Some clean up work on xPRL is
being done at this stage. In addition, Open geospatial group is helping us to
include a subschema of GML in our xAL specification. Please see below the
discussion between Max Voskob and GML group regarding this.

I hope to have the v3.0 specs. released in a week's time.

Regards,

Ram

Thanx Sam,

We are looking forward to the info.

Please, keep it simple and informal at this stage. We just want to get the ball rolling.

Cheers,
Max?

Max,

I have finally located a member that has something for you to look at.

As you note, that specific schema or schema fragment is not present in the specification itself.

When I get the document I will send it to you, but I must caution that this is not a 'finished' piece of work.  In fact your evaluation -- what does it not enable that you need? -- would be very helpful.  I am working with Carl Reed, our Executive Directo
r of the Specification Program, to assemble a small team that can respond to your input.

We would like to work it up and then pass it through both organizations for approval at the same time -- yours as part of the xAL specification, and ours as one more 'schema fragment' that us useful as a plug in to other non-OGC schemas.

Regards,

Sam

Subject: use of GML in OASIS xAL

Hi Sam,

I'd like to get some assistance from OGC on behalf of OASIS CIQ TC ( http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/tc_home.php?wg_abbrev=ciq).

xAL specification ( http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/documents.php) provides means for describing postal and physical addresses. Also, we have a requirement for expressing geospatial infromation as part of an address.
Currently, we have a container that references the entire GML namespace leaving it to the adopters to decide how they apply GML there.
We'd like to make it a easiers for adopters and reference appropriate GML structures directly, instead of allowing to use anything from GML.

Unfortuanately, we do not have any GML expertise and my ad-hoc approach to this didn't result in a meaningful solution. Would it be possible to give us some assistance in this area?

Kind regards,
Max Voskob
