Some comments to this:
@1) Interesting, this one needs more discussion. Does the spec really enforce that all properties are only passive values? Certain properties like the typeId already have a semantic. My take on this would be that the spec is open here, but a client can not expect interoperability on a certain semantic for a property (unless the spec mandates it). Does this need clarification in the spec?
@3) To my knowledge a Legal Hold usually implies a complete freeze of the object forbidding any kind of modification. I am not sure that it is everywhere implemented this way.
@4) This one needs further explanation and more details.
@5) In our repository a retentions can't be removed, i.e. the removePolicy call would fail for a retention policy. In our proposal the management of the retention policy and potential actions to be taken after expiration of the policy would be completely up to the repository. So any meaning of a policy like "3YearsAutoDelete" would be repository specific.
