Subject: Re: [ekmi] [Fwd: MIP Kickoff Meeting Minutes]

Hi Marc,

Bob and Tony, among others, are strong supporters of EKMI and have voiced
support for our continued work here. As such, it's important we reignite
our efforts. We need to get a couple more vendors to implement the
community spec and then get on to bigger better things. :)

Sun and IEEE P1619.3 are opposed to our work because they have their own
competing draft that they want to see published instead. Sun has made
their XML spec open-source and are proposing that it be adopted as the .3
XML standard. I believe that EKMI has been, or will be, dropped.

Proper representation of EKMI within KMIP will be important. I will
continue to be a vocal proponent. However, I do think it's best that I get
out of the way as liaison.

cheers,

-ben
