Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-3412) 13.5.24<form:value-range> does not allow a "continuous" number range

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-3412?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=21783#action_21783 ]

Dennis Hamilton commented on OFFICE-3412:

The change to form:page-step-size and form:step-size should not be handled here. These need to be treated separately, because they also seem to be involved with regard to stepping through values as part of UI activity in which the value is chosen. The analogy of form:page-step-size with "page down" functionality means something different depending on whether there is a drop-down of values offered versus whether the value in a spinner is being adjusted.

Since these attributes are only used for <form:value-range>, maybe they need to be descibed better in terms of what their (optional) functionality is for such a control. I have no objection to change to double, but we also need to know what the heck these are provided for and whether they are intended as constraints or optional aids.

I have opened OFFICE-3462 on this aspect.

> Currently 13.5.24 states:
> "The <form:value-range> element defines a control which allows the user to select a value from a continuous number range."
> Since <form:value-range> has a form:step-size attribute with a default value of 1 and values that are positiveInteger this is anything but a "continuous" number range.
> In fact there is no real justification why the form:step-size and form:page-step-size attributes could not allow arbitrary positive numbers. Note that form:min-size and form:max-size allow arbitrary doubles.
