Subject: Re: Ed Felt is no more with us...

Dear Sanjay,

I know Peter has already written to you and your colleagues within BEA. This
awful news about Ed has added to the shocking impact of this catastrophe.

I last saw Ed when we shared a flight back from San Jose to Newark after the
last BTP meeting, having dined with him the previous night. I found him to be an
unfailingly courteous and wryly humorous man, with a very fine understanding of
the technical and organizational issues we have been dealing with in BTP. As
Peter has recalled, he talked enthusiastically about the holiday he had taken in
Spain this summer -- which makes one think of his family, to whom we can only
offer our great sympathies.

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work and debate with Ed Felt,
however briefly, and to have welcomed him to London when he visited us for the
June meeting.

A bitter loss of a much respected colleague.

With my best wishes,

Alastair Green
