Subject: RE: [cmis] minor issue: no download of spec from OASIS site?

To follow up on what Mary says,

1. MANAGING THE CMIS TC PAGE INFORMATION

If you go to the member's page for the group (member logon required),
http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/cmis/

you'll see that the "Group Notes" pane down the left column is a replica of
the material that appears on the CMIS TC page at
http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/tc_home.php?wg_abbrev=cmis

starting with the Table of Contents.

If you are a TC official (viz., a secretary or chair), you will also see, on
the top right corner of the Group Notes pane in the grey banner, an edit
link. This is how you are able to maintain this information.

2. CLASSIFICATION OF THE CURRENT DOCUMENTS

Technically, the current documents, which have been accepted by the TC as a
basis for development of the OASIS CMIS Standard, have no standing as
official OASIS documents. They are not a product of the TC at this point.
(You could pass a motion to formally accept them as the initial working
documents, but they would still be only internal documents until the
Committee Draft process is undertaken on appropriately-formatted OASIS
texts.)

If Mary indicates that it is inappropriate to link to these documents under
the Technical Work and Expository Work, another way to do it would be to add
a FAQ and have it link to the initial documents that have been contributed
to the TC as the basis for further work. Having an FAQ (or a FAQ if you
pronounce it Fack -- not a problem for CMIS though [;<) is a good idea
anyhow, and this is something useful to start with.

I thought of using the External Resources section, but it would be weird to
use that to reference material in the CMIS TC document area. I think the
FAQ is the ticket, so long as Mary has no objection. It would be good to
make emphatic disclaimer about these documents *not* constituting an OASIS
Standard and not endorsed by OASIS in any way, shape, or form.

Thanks, Mary.

To all: Mary can’t attend all our meetings. If we have lots of questions
about the tools, we can schedule for her to attend one of our meetings. For
individual question, she can answer by mail.

Once you have the first approved Committee Draft, we’ll upload the files to
docs.oasis-open.org where they’ll have both a “latest version” URI as well
as a fixed URI to the specific CD01 release. The folders that you see in
Kavi are not visible to non-members; they only see a long file listing when
accessing documents. Instead, you want to edit the TC home page (anyone with
chair or secretary roles can do this – see instructions for home page
template at docs.oasis-open.org/templates/) to list the specs and the
publicly-accessible URIs.
