Sorry, I didn't mention the output method in the original posting... I try to xi:include code fragments of XSL files (which contain obviously < and the like), output method is text. And yes I use parse="text" as attribute for xi:include. Processor is xsltproc. But I get < in the ouput file for < of the input file!
