There is an archive of this mailing list held as a newsgroup on the news.gmane.org server. Also has the companion DocBook Apps list. Neither is complete; for this list the first message is dated 7 Feb 2002 whereas Apps' first message is from the day before. The formal archive is at http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/docbook/ and the Apps list is similar. For a general XML newsgroup try news:comp.text.xml; it occasionally has DocBook specific posts but in my experience this mailing list is where the real gurus contemplate.
