Subject: Hotels and Other Seattle Info

Title: Hotels and Other Seattle Info

If you have questions about any of the Seattle hotels, please let me know. I will try to help. (I'm sure Jim Cabral would as well.)

If necessary, call me on my cell phone at (206) 755-2526. We don't want you to be lost, etc., when we need you at our meetings.

The downtown Seattle area provides free bus service in the "Free Ride Zone." That means you can get from place to place without paying fares - do ask drivers whether theirs is the right bus for where you're going (they're generally friendly). Sometimes it's hard to find a taxi to hail. Taxis are found in abundance around big hotels.

Transportation from SeaTac airport: catch the Airporter buses (Greyhound type buses) and ride for about $8.50 each way - with stops at many hotels downtown - the driver will tell you where to get off! These run relatively frequently. Taxis and shuttles are considerably more expensive ($30-40).

Highly recommended: see the new Seattle Public Library (bounded by 4th and 5th Avenues and Madison and Spring Streets.

Seattle is somewhat famous for enforcing jaywalking laws. (If you want to look like you've lived in Seattle a long time, don't cross until the light says WALK, even when the traffic is clear.)

The first Starbuck's store is still operating in the Pike Place Market.

This has been a great summer in Seattle with lots of clear blue skies. We hope the weather will hold for your visit. (Sometimes Labor Day is the start of the cloudy/rainy season, whose end is around Memorial Day. We can have fabulous weather in September/October. Our rain is more misty than torrential..."like living in a cloud.")

Welcome!

For those of you not booking rooms from the CTC9 rooming block, with some
help from MTG, I have compiled a listing of some hotels in the downtown
area.  I have only stayed or know someone who has stayed at the first two.
So I cannot make any specific recommendations other than that. Hope this
helps in making your plans.
