OASIS News 14 August 2006 Welcome to OASIS News, a weekly update of announcements, accomplishments, and activities for the international standards consortium. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS Continues Mail Server Recovery Recovery efforts in the aftermath of the OASIS email server crash continue. Basic functionality for all OASIS Committee and TC-comment lists has been restored and the subscription manager <http://www.oasis-open.org/mlmanage/> for public lists is also functional. IT staff are working now to restore archives and other mail lists. Members experiencing any difficulties with mail lists (other than with the archives) are encouraged to report problems to support@oasis-open.org. Updates on the recovery process will be posted at: http://www.oasis-open.org/members/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Members Approve WSDM v1.1 as an OASIS Standard The Web Services Distributed Management (WSDM) v1.1 specification has been approved as an OASIS Standard. WSDM enables management applications to be built using Web services, allowing resources to be controlled by many managers through a single interface. OASIS congratulates members of the OASIS WSDM TC and all those who participated in the implementation, review, and voting process. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/tc-announce/200607/msg00000.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Discussion List Forms for UOML OASIS has opened a public mail list for the discussion of a possible new OASIS Unstructured Operation Markup Language (UOML) TC. UOML defines an XML schema for universal document operations. The proposers plan to contribute UOML to an TC if it is formed, for further review and refinement. The schema is suitable for operating written documents, including create, view, modify, query information that can be printed in paper, e.g. books, magazine, newspaper, office documents, maps, drawings, blueprints, but is not restricted to these kinds of documents. Anyone, including OASIS members and non-members, may subscribe to this list by sending a message to: uoml-discuss-subscribe@lists.oasis-open.org ---------------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS Establishes Adoption Forum Program Committee Martin Raepple of SAP, Steve Jones of Capgemini, John Wailing of Cabinet Office in the UK Government, and Roger Dean of EEMA will work together on the Program Committee for the OASIS Adoption Forum, which will be held in London on 28-29 Nov. The committee will be supported by OASIS staff members, Carol Cosgrove-Sacks, Patrick Gannon, and Pim van der Eijk.
