Subject: RE: [ocpp] Groups - Ballot opened: "Possible replacement TC (see ballot description)"

Dear OASIS,

When I read the ballot on the TC OCPP group posted by OASIS (and not the TC) last Friday I was surprised. In fact the question put forward in this ballot is not the question which should be addressed. The TC OCPP has been opened, by consent of OASIS, under Non-assertion mode, and with reasons to do so. OASIS was aware and knew the objections of ChargePoint Inc.

The ballot put to the TC-members is NOT a ballot put forward from the TC but from OASIS. Also the question put forward is NOT discussed with the TC-chairs, so far the transparency of OASIS.

We want an open, IP- and royalty free standard. This has been the case from the start of OCPP.

To have a TC under RAND IPR Mode it will prevent us from joining this TC, because of our business nature. This means that Allego is excluded by OASIS (and by ChargePoint Inc.) from joining this new TC.

Allego will continue to work on this open, IP- and royalty free standard.

This has no effect if an organisation wants to implement their own standard.

Met vriendelijk groet, With kind regards,

Ir. Jan Wieling

"Possible replacement TC (see ballot description)" has opened.

Ballot Title: Possible replacement TC (see ballot description)

Question
Would you consider joining a replacement TC ( under OASIS RAND IPR Mode), if the current OCPP TC (under Non-assertion Mode) is closed?

Closing Date: Thursday, 22 December 2016 @ 11:59 pm UTC

Description
OASIS seeks input on the future operation of the OCPP technical committee in light of disclosed litigation threats. Would each TC member please indicate in this ballot whether it would, or would not, consider joining a replacement TC, reopened under the OASIS RAND IPR Mode, if the current TC (which runs under the OASIS Non-Assertion IPR Mode) is closed.

This advisory ballot does not bind any party to take any action, but will be helpful to OASIS and the TC members in their planning. The numeric results of this ballot will be posted, but individual votes will not be posted. Disclosures of litigation threats against the OCPP TC's operation are posted here: https://www.oasis-open.org/committees/ocpp/ipr.php
