In the A11y guidelines, section 3.2.6, I say

The same visual effect can be obtained using table:number-rows-spanned
  or table:number-rows-spanned and the use of these  attributes will
result in cell addressing which is consistent with the surrounding
table.

1. I've repeated the same item
2. I've called it a tag (element) and it's an attribute.

Is this better please.
