Subject: Thoughts on BoxPlots

Hi,

In Gnumeric, the attribute gnm:outliers="true" determines whether outliers are excluded from the main part of the boxplot. Gnumeric (and apparently Excel) are using the Tukey definition of Outliers. Since there are other Outlier definitions around I thin that perhaps instead of a true/False attribute we should be using an attribute that allows for name-spaced attribute values: draw:outliers="draw:none", draw:outliers="draw:tukey", etc.

I also note that there are other styles of boxplots, see https://vita.had.co.nz/papers/boxplots.pdf
