Subject: List growth and new subscribers

So, we've been going on with this discussion for almost
2 weeks now. After the first week we had 29 subscribers on the list.
As of yesterday, we were up to 129.
Today, I saw a request from someone eager to unsubscribe
because of the large volume of emails he was receiving.
A few thoughts concerning the above:
First, for those who have recently joined, welcome
aboard. If you don't know me, I'm Rob Weir, Co-Chair of the ODF TC
at OASIS, and, for our present purposes, your discussion leader.
We are drafting a proposed charter for a proposed
Technical Committee in OASIS with the proposed name "ODF Implementation,
Interoperability and Conformance (IIC) TC".
The call for proposal, which you may have already
seen is here: http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/oiic-formation-discuss/200806/msg00001.html
You can read the past list traffic as archived here:
http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/oiic-formation-discuss/200806/maillist.htm
A work-in-progress of the draft charter is hosted
here: http://sites.google.com/a/odfiic.org/tc/Home
We have 90 days (well now less than 80) to do this
work, but I think this is more than enough time.
Because of the large subscriber count on this list,
let's be respectful of each others time and bandwidth and storage. (I
just got a note today from my network admin saying my mail file was now
over quota).
So:
Let's keep the signal/noise ratio high. We're
all list subscribers, so send responses only to the list. There is
no need to also cc an author when responding to their posts. Also,
let's all snip large responses to the relevant parts, so the reader can
quickly see what you are commenting on. I appreciate again that if
we can keep implementation discussions off-list, so we can focus in on
the remaining charter work.
Regards,
-Rob
