Subject: The importance to users of documents looking the same
(at the risk of bludgeoning the point into the ground) Although actually defining what "layout perfect" means, users certainly want it. A couple more examples: http://ancaluca.blogspot.com/2007/09/please-dont-send-me-doc-attachments.html http://www.goldmark.org/netrants/no-word/attach.html#tth_sEc1.8 It doesn't matter if users shouldn't use word processors as desktop publishing - they do, and when it doesn't work they consider it an interoperability failure. Telling them they're wrong to want this, that it's a hard problem to define and so on won't stop them (quite reasonably) wanting this. Tell you what - if ODF can offer layout fidelity, that'll be a killer feature! - d.
