Subject: RE: xml:base and issue 3
Message text written by Michael Fitzgerald > I understand that xml:base was made a W3C recommendation today (27 June 2001), along with XLink. http://www.w3.org/tr/xmlbase/ BTW, the spec is only 8 pages long, so you can get up to speed in only 5 or 10 minutes of reading! <<<<<<<<<<<< Great! This is all unfortunately 2 years too late and a dollar short. Now you have three different ways of doing links that compete and so instead of having consistency - confusion. I'm wondering if mainstream users will actually bother to add XLinks to XML documents now - and of course - we have to wait till the parsers support all this anyway. Underwhelmed and frustrated by what could have been. DW.
