Subject: Mike Taylor Discovers A New Dinosaur Family!!

For those of you who missed this in Wired:

TaylorComputer programmer Mike Taylor was poking around the vaults of London's Natural History Museum when something caught his eye: a strange bone unearthed in the early 1890's and left to gather dust.

Taylor, who's doing his PhD work on sauropod spines, thought the bone looked unique. He was right: it belonged to brand-new species, dubbed Xenoposeidon proneukus and described in the journal Paleontology. And not only is Xenoposeidon, which lived 140 million years ago and grew to the size of an elephant, a new species: it could belong to a whole new sauropod family.
