Subject: Re: [soa-rm] ecosystem view update

Folks, I have more comments to the text in several points:

<< A business process is a description [sequence] of the tasks, participants' roles and information [flow] needed to fulfill a business objective>> -   A business process is NOT a description; a description of business process may be a description of …

2)  Business process has, actually, two meanings:

a.  For Business Executives – a business process is a business capability with relatively concrete boundaries; it is about WHAT the business can do or does, not about HOW it is done
b.  For Business operations - a business process is an ordered sequence of activities and information flows accompanied by the business logic defining the order of execution. This is clear HOW ‘thing’. People and roles may vary widely. The essence of this type of business project is the business logic, everything else can change fluently.

<< Business processes are often used to describe the actions and interactions that form business transactions>>. It is necessary to outline here that description of the actions and interactions does not go further than a) description of expected RWE to be provided by the action, and b) interfaces and informational/behavioral models.

<< This is most clear when the business process defines an activity involving parties external to the organization; however, even within an enterprise, a business process typically involves multiple participants and stakeholders>>
I’d like to note, and it would be useful got RAF, if we could say that the human participants of the process are not process users, they are the process workers. Furthermore, from the consumer of the process perspective, the process appears as a service, which encapsulates business activities and business workers. Since some activities may be automated, we can conclude that business services may be realized as a combination of business operational and automated activities contributed by Technology.

Frank, that looks good, but when it comes to business processes, here are my
comments:

Business Process
A business process is a description [sequence] of the tasks, participants' roles
and
information [flow] needed to fulfill a business objective.
Business processes are often used to describe the actions and interactions that
form
business transactions. This is most clear when the business process defines an
activity
involving parties external to the organization; however, even within an
enterprise, a
business process typically involves multiple participants and stakeholders.[what
does this sentence mean? Its just a filler]
In the context of transactions mediated and supported by electronic means,
business
processes are often required to be defined well enough to permit automation
[automation is nice, but the processes have to be defined irrespectively of it].
The forms
of such definitions are often referred to as choreographies [are you implying
that process definition is choreography?]:
