Subject: RE: [tag] Groups - TA Anatomy V0.5 ---- about pre-requisites
Inline <JD> -----Original Message----- From: stephen.green@systml.co.uk [mailto:stephen.green@systml.co.uk] Sent: Wednesday, October 03, 2007 12:16 AM To: tag@lists.oasis-open.org Subject: Re: [tag] Groups - TA Anatomy V0.5 (AnatomyTA-v05.doc) uploaded This very well answers my particular concerns. Excellent. Much appreciated. The notes about outcomes maybe needs a bit of clarification for example "- If the adherence condition associated with a pass outcome is not satisfied for an IUT (i.e. it evaluates to "false") this does not cause a fail outcome. Conversely, if the incompatibility condition associated with a fail outcome is not satisfied (i.e. it evaluates to "false") this does not cause a pass outcome." Maybe this would be a little clearer with 'does not necessarily': <JD> right. I agree that in general, "pass" = not("fail") and conversely, not("pass") = "fail". But in some cases (at least negative testing) failing to "fail" does not mean "pass"... It all depends on the scope of the test condition. But again, I assume pass/fail have here a "conformance" semantics.</JD> "- If the adherence condition associated with a pass outcome is not satisfied for an IUT (i.e. it evaluates to "false") this does not necessarily cause a fail outcome. Conversely, if the incompatibility condition associated with a fail outcome is not satisfied (i.e. it evaluates to "false") this does not necessarily cause a pass outcome." I was looking for the 'more on prerequisites' - is this yet to be added? <JD> Yes - and I suspect anything we were considering as "pre-condition" could be folded into a general "pre-requisite", that could either point to other TAs or state a condition on its own, or both. In other words, in order for the test case(s) derived from a TA to be executed for an IUT, the pre-requisites of this TA must be satisfied for this IUT. The pre-requisite would be used to "qualify" the IUT for the test - not part of the test itself.</JD> Best regards -- Stephen Green Partner SystML, http://www.systml.co.uk Tel: +44 (0) 117 9541606 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=matthew+22:37 .. and voice Quoting jdurand@us.fujitsu.com: > The section draft "Anatomy of a TA" has entirely been remodeled. > - TA is introduced first in its "structured" version. > - TA parts are introduce gradually, on the basis of their rationale. > Special emphasis on the "test outcome". > - so far, no mention on pre-condition (it seems to blend in "test trigger" > at least in examples used.) > - test effect replaced by "test outcome" > - no mention of post-condition (yet). > - the "prose" TA is introduced as a variant of above structure, where > unmentioned parts are automatically inferred from a rule, instead of > just absent. > > -- Mr Jacques Durand > > The document revision named TA Anatomy V0.5 (AnatomyTA-v05.doc) has > been submitted by Mr Jacques Durand to the OASIS Test Assertions > Guidelines > (TAG) TC document repository.
