Being a late comer to both the XTM discussion groups and TMs in
general,
forgive me if this question either seems naive or has already been
talked
to death earlier, but...

Is there any serious consideration being given by the XTM AG regarding
the adoption of XML Schemas for the encoding both of the core syntax
as well as for defining the standard Templates of commonly used
ontologies?

It seems that XML Schemas, and the XML Infoset, offer a number of
attractive mechanisms addressing needs both at the interchange
level as well as the KR level, that to date have been the focus
of discussions mentioning UML, Groves, Achitectural Forms, etc.

Rather than either adopt a non-XML solution (such as UML, AFs), or
stay
with an insufficient solution (DTDs), or create yet another schema
language (XTM Schema?), why not work with the XML Schema and Infoset
working groups to further the utility and benefit of those emerging
standards?

It seems to me that XML Schema, XML Infoset and XTM covers the whole
spectrum from raw data to inference models.

[I had tried to post a proposal to the group to that effect last week,
but it seems it got lost somewhere along the way. I'll try to repost
 it...]

Regards,

Patrick
