Subject: RE: [xtm-wg] Proposal to invite Laurent as a guest in XTM
[David Holliday:] > 1) Does the "open discussion" in Paris allow dial-in? For > people not even near Europe? No. We have excluded that possibility at our first meeting. FYI, about 1/2 of the participants (or more) are flying from the US. We don't do dial in because 3 days of meeting give all of us plenty of opportunities to expose their view, listen and understand the point of view of others, and make up our mind about what to do. We can't achieve that with dial-in. However, there are many working meetings that are done through conference calls, and that happened among subgroups, editorial team, marketing group, etc. To follow our progress remotely, you have to rely on email. We publish the minutes of the meetings. You can react through email and by doing that you become an "advisory member". You don't get to vote but you might influence the process if your ideas are taken into account. Look at our charter to see exactly what this means: URL is http://www.topicmaps.org/org/XTM-charter-final-20000610.html Go to http://www.topicmaps.org and http://www.egroups.com (xtm-wg) for a complete repository of the documents. (We are going to move this repository to a new location soon, which will be easier to access). > Since I cannot be in Paris, I can only sing out my offers. > "Feelings" may not be facts, but somebody else's feeling about > you will make you factually dead. > > Also, most business decisions, as well as personal life, are > based on feelings.
