No, UML *allows* classes with methods, but there is no requirement that a UML class have any methods. Thats how you can have a UML static data model: classes with only attributes but no methods. But in any case *I DEMAND AN API* so you will have to specify methods somewhere in the processing model. If this effort does not result in a standard default API for accessing topic maps it will have been wasted effort. Can you make a quick-and-dirty > model of, say, a topic with its properties (just the topic) and post > it so that we can see what it looks like? Look at the work I did back in Paris. That is *EXACTLY* what I created. This is my frustration: WE'VE ALREADY GONE THROUGHT THE $#%^# EXERCISE OF USING UML TO DEFINE BOTH A CONCEPTUAL AND PROCESSING MODEL OF TOPIC MAPS. THERE CAN BE NO QUESTION ABOUT THE ABILITY TO DO IT BECAUSE WE ALREADY DID IT A YEAR AGO. I'm yelling because it appears that the weeks of work a bunch of us did on this has been COMPLETELY IGNORED!!!!!. Why? The depth of my frustration cannot be overstated. It's maddening. I don't have a problem with making a business decision that says "UML is not the appropriate choice for {some legitimate reason}" BUT I DO OBJECT TO THE CONSTANT MISREPRESENTATION OF UML AND THE CONTINUED QUESTIONING OF ITS UTILITY IN THE FACE OF ESTABLISHED EXISTENCE PROOFS.
