Hi Richard,
Could you send out an email with altered
text to the demo participants from Huawei, Fujitsu, Vnomic and IBM and
if each company approves in an email reply we can send revised abstract
to Jane.
Kind regards,
Matt

Paul, thanks for the kind
words, and thanks for your initial improvement to put the value-proposition
up front. It wouldn’t have gotten better if you hadn’t suggested that.
I prefer not to wait a week,
so I would like to do a fast email vote and switch to the “RP3” version
to give to Jane for propagation.
Matt, do you agree with the
proposal to do an email vote?
Interop SC members, are there
any objections to replacing the paragraph we reviewed in today’s meeting
with this version instead?

Hi Richard (Hemingway),
Many people never look at the long version
of a description so this paragraph is important. That said; I think this
new version, RP3,
from you is far superior to the original version (and my own rather rushed
attempts to improve it). It is clearly more readable, lays out the value-proposition
up front, creates a clearer understanding of what the demo does, and has
a lot more “punch.” In short, thank you, it’s great, and I do think
it should be the version used by Jane.
I don’t know if you and Matt prefer an
email vote or to wait until next Monday (Labor Day????), but I hope very
much that all participants approve RP3. It certainly has my vote.
Thanks again,
Paul

It is not the way we usually do
business in the SC, but I would be willing to vote on the replacement text
over email. Give Paul a chance to look at version RP3, then call a vote
of the demo participants and see if nobody objects. We could give Jane
an improved version by tomorrow, which does not hold up the promotion too
much.

If we resolve on a new abstract (just the

It is just an abstract to draw awareness and attention. Do no forget
that Richard is still working on the larger (~ 500 word) full description
to provide Jane shortly which can be infused with more details on value
proposition, etc.
Kind regards,
Matt

Hi Paul,
Yes, I edited your second upload. You will see the red-lines.
I changed all instances of “This demo” to “The demo” because I believe
it reads better, and the context is clear as soon as someone has read the
first sentence. But if you really insist, change it back.
Since the SC approved the draft today and Matt immediately sent it to Jane
to get it posted ASAP, I think changes should be copied to the SC, so I
don’t want to take this offline. We should be able to converge it quickly,
before people get sick of the spam.
Best,

Hi Richard,
Thanks for the iteration. FYI, there were actually a number of minor and
some medium level tweaks, as well, to sentences, e.g. for a minor one,
don’t call the demo “the OASIS demo,” but rather “This OASIS demo,”
unless you never think we’ll have another OASIS demo. :-)
More seriously, please bear with me, as I will have to take a look later
today. Could you please confirm (offline if you want) that you based this
on my second upload (revision #2) at https://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/tosca-interop/download.php/50444/OASIS%20TOSCA%20Interop%20Demo%20-%20Abstract%20-%202013-08-26%20PL2.docx?
If anybody wants Richard and me to take this often line, just let us know,
of course.
Thanks,
Paul

Submitter's message
Paul, if we want to put the value proposition first, we can do that. However,
I think that this will require a little more editing than simply changing
the order of sentences, so I am not comfortable with this revision. In
the spirit of rapid iteration, here is a revision to your revision.
Best,
--Richard
