Subject: Status of UBL web site

The new OASIS web server is now running at www.oasis-open.org. What you
see there is driven by the Kavi system. In fact, i was editing at the
time it cut over which confused me for some time!

I managed to get the UBL home page to look a bit like the old one. This
required putting HTML code in the 'notes' (which it says not to do) but
it worked, so i left it.

I also made the following changes:

Roster
- demoted Patrick Gannon to OBSERVER (he was Chair for some reason).
Calendar
- made entries for the forthcoming plenary
Documents
- Under the Calendar documents i added a link to the Liaison's calendar page
- Under Meeting Notes i added links to the minues of previous meetings
- Made two new folders ("UBL Presentations" and "White papers and
related documents")
- Under UBL Presentations i added the latest UBL presentation slide show
(we now need to upload the others as well)
- Under White papers and related documents i added the UBL White Paper
and the Value Proposition paper

It appears as if all the old links to our working directories and the
email archives still work, so it was not a tricky as it could have been.

Some of the outstanding issues i have noticed are:
a. on the 'public' home page for UBL:
    - there is a link to 'Minutes' which goes to a test page. it could
be useful, but we cannot seem to update this (so minutes are in the
documents section)
    - there is a link to 'Press' which goes to a page of press arcticles
(taken from our original page). I cannot see how to update this either
    - there is a link to 'Schedule' which goes to our liaison schedule
(taken from our original page). I cannot see how to update this either
    - it appears as if we can only change the 'Announcement', the 'Group
Description' and anything under the 'Documents' link.
    - subcommittee links still go to the old SC home pages (we cannot
change this).
    - subcommittess cannot make their documents to public or even OASIS,
so things like the LC minutes and working documents are now private to UBL.

b. on the 'members' home page:
    - the 'my groups' lists all INDIVIDUAL OASIS members as in 'my
company' - so the page is 12 feet long.
    - things like 'recent documents' and 'upcoming events' are populated
when various TC Chairs (or designates) choose to broadcast their updates
to the full OASIS membership. this is going to require some discipline
for all of us (i made the mistake myself several times). this will take
a while to settle down and i suspect we should warn our members.

By the way, i originally felt most UBL members would never log in to
their OASIS accounts. That we could keep our work visible to the
world. But, as i noted above, subcommittess cannot share their
documents to public or even OASIS, so any SC documents uploaded to the
OASIS site are now private to UBL. Things like our current review
package could not be published on the new OASIS site (it works now
because we reference the old directories - which we can no longer
update). The next round we shall have to follow the OASIS committee
spec process (which is what we had planned anyway). However, we need to
be careful when we describe the UBL process as 'open' - it is only
'open' to OASIS members and in the case of SC work , only 'open' to UBL
members.

I will CC Karl and Scott (no relation) with this as they probably have
more information to add and presumably have nothing to do now this
system is installed ;-)
