Subject: Re: [ubl-dev] Simple ODF/XForms (OOo2/SO8) for UBL 1.0 Invoice

A further few notes (following offline comments, thanks):

1. I'm excited about how it might be possible to link
OOo XSLT handling with it. This would
allow use of macros to do things like:

++ pre-transform say a UBL Order to the initial part of a UBL
Invoice prior to editing the invoice further with the form

++ after form output of an XML instance to the local drive,
convert the XML to something else like XHTML (or even an
Invoice to XBRL-GL for importing into a general ledger
system or spreadsheet).

2. One should find that the Create Document button adds
a UBL file at file:///c:/invoice.xml but you'd have to change the
submission details in OOo to point to something like
file:////home/invoice.xml (?) if you have Linux or Unix.
If think it works but doesn't give a message to say anything
has happened. To check, any data input should appear when
you open the other form but again, if you use Linux/Unix
you'll have to change the link url as above in the relevant
instance details.

3. The fact you can save the whole file with data is interesting
(though it adds complexity to how the whole thing gets used).
It means you can send a whole .odt file in an email and
the receiving person can use a button to do something with the
contained instance (save it, upload it or import it to back office
or spreadsheet) but care has to be used at present in storage
to avoid storing something that can be edited. This applies
to the conversion to pdf in that a pdf for an input form that
hasn't been made readonly allows changes before printing which
might not be obviously possible to auditors. Hence it should,
I think be best practise that only readonly forms be sent if they
are sent in their entirety.

All the best
