Subject: First draft UBL 2.0 SBS 2.0 document models and schemas
Fellow UBL SBSC members, Please find at the following address a ZIP package with the documentation and schemas for a draft SBS 2.0 for UBL 2.0: http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/document.php?document_id=23873 With many thanks to co-chair Gruffudd Williams for proposing this initial content, this is now a straw-man draft to convey the concepts of what we might put into a deliverable for a schema package for a small business subset of UBL 2.0. This initial package customizes 20 of the 31 UBL 2.0 document types. Gruffudd based his work on real-world requirements from his experiences and he started with a clean slate rather than trying to build up on earlier SBSC efforts. In UBL 1.0 the SBS 1.0 was described by XPath files. In this proposal the UBL 2.0 SBS 2.0 is described by XSD schemas. At this early stage we are only looking at document definition as a subset of UBL 2.0 and not any adjunct files (though this does not preclude examining adjunct files in the future such as the business process files). The schemas were created by pruning the original UBL 2.0 schema expressions through the use of XML comments wrapping the constructs of UBL 2.0 that are not used in the subset. There is a run-time version of the schemas supplied without the comments of the pruned content. Please examine the HTML document reports for the aggregate and for each document type. Each HTML document lists the model rows of the subset, hyperlinked to the model rows of UBL 2.0. This combination allows committee members and others to examine what is in the small business subset and what of UBL 2.0 is not in the subset. This allows members to propose changes by linking back and forth between the two tables and seeing what is missing. At this time the division of labour is that Gruffudd is proposing what is in and what is out of the small business subset, and I am taking his work and creating the committee artefacts. You are tasked with giving us feedback both on the SBS 2 contents and the SBS 2 artefacts. Gruffudd is transcribing his work into copies of the spreadsheets found in the UBL repository at: http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/document.php?document_id=21034 I'm using some internal Crane tools to synthesize the schema expressions. Gruffudd and I are now inviting comment from committee members and others regarding the choices made in the draft work. If you are interested in participating in the work of SBSC, send us your comments and join our subcommittee. We don't yet have any teleconferences scheduled and plan for the time being to work by way of the committee mail list. BTW, Gruffudd will soon be creating some sample instances that validate against the UBL 2.0 SBS 2.0 draft schemas. At some point we should also look at code lists. I'll prepare some XPath files from the schemas. We look forward to your feedback! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
