It is clear to me as a newcomer to these standards that there are many companies and standards groups working on security for Web services, so I am trying to find out if there is a desire within these groups to progress improved interoperability between the various standards. From an end-user perspective, surely this will be the biggest requirement, so that Web services with business applications can be used on a global basis ? If not, then it will be very hard to do business electronically with suppliers and customers if the chosen standards used by each are not interoperable ?

 

I appreciate that the above questions have large implications outside of security and Kerberos, but my interest only relates to the security aspects. So, I am trying to find out if there is any current work taking place to ensure these standards are able to interoperate ?

This WS-Security is Microsoft WS-Security, not OASIS WSSecurity.  We don't have a bindings document for Kerberos yet, do we?

Can you explain your 'Hmmmm' comment ?

 

I have to appologise in advance, but I have only recently become a "prospective member" of the Oasis WSS TC. I am therefore trying to catch up on current work in progress within this TC. My interest is related to the use of Kerberos within Web Services solutions.
