One solution that has been proposed is:  Nabble

As Patrick has pointed out:

--We can use Nabble for the ability to create threaded discussions on a given topic, where one can comment at any time responding to any other comment in that thread

--Nabble would give us ability to have comments, and all related discourse, in a clear and concise contextual relationship

--In this way, a given topic can be easily followed from beginning to end with all views, base decisions, all all outcomes clearly defined

Would this address your concerns about Slack?
