To absolutely no avail, sad to say.

Obviously, the current Debian version of OO.o doesn't allow retroactive 
registration of any locally installed JRE.

(Nor does it ask whether you have any java environment available as it 
(re)installs, apparently.  That's bad.)

Roll on version 2.
