Subject: RE: [saf] CASCON workshop
Mary, It is true that there is no grandfathering, right? This CD was
approved with the understanding of its use at CASCON at the time of the vote.
With that specific understanding at vote time (noted in minutes, I’m sure), is
there no flexibility? You’re the expert who is thinking about OASIS Process all
the time. Believe it or not, I actually think about non-OASIS issues a good deal
of the time. I defer to you! :-) Thanks, Paul Paul Lipton CA Technologies VP, Industry Standards and Open Source Member, CA Council for Technical Excellence Phone (new

Stavros.Isaiadis@uk.fujitsu.com [mailto:Stavros.Isaiadis@uk.fujitsu.com] Hi Mary, I have read the new process and FAQ. All I am saying is that the
new process came into effect too late for us to prepare and approve a public
review draft for the CASCON workshop. Thanks, Stavros From: Mary McRae [mailto:mary.mcrae@oasis-open.org]
Hi Stavros, The Board Process
Committee - of which Paul Lipton is a part - set the policy for Non Standards
Track Work Products, which includes presentations. You can give a presentation
on your own behalf or your company's behalf, but it cannot be presented with
the perspective of you stating that you're representing the views of the
committee without first having reached Committee Note status. I urge you to review
the new TC Process and the FAQ, where this question is answered. "10. If a TC is preparing a
slide presentation for a public event, does the presentation really have to be
classified and approved as a Non-Standards Work Product, including the
requirements to list all contributors, have a statement about patents on every
slide, require public review, etc.? Of course you could decide that
your presentation should be covered under the patent provisions of the IPR
Policy and approve it under the Standards Track as well. Regards, Mary On Oct 21, 2010, at 10:08 AM, <Stavros.Isaiadis@uk.fujitsu.com>

wrote: Hi Mary, Why do we need a Committee
Note and not just a Committee Draft in order to present?? All TC material are
public anyway, so a simple CD would be enough I would have thought. In any case, this is now
impossible since the CASCON workshop is in less than 2 weeks time! The previous
OASIS process only had a Committee Draft and did not distinguish between Notes
and Specifications, thus not really enabling us to approve any slidedecks as
Committee Specification –this would just be absurd! So now with the new
process, Committee Notes were introduced, which are suitable for this purpose,
but now there is no time to implement this process. Regards, Stavros From: Mary McRae
[mailto:mary.mcrae@oasis-open.org] Just a reminder that now that slidedeck
will need to be approved as a Committee Note Draft and submitted for a 30-day
public review before being approved as a Committee Note and presented. Regards, Mary Mary P McRae Director, Standards

Hi all, Remember when I said we have a whole
hour to discuss SAF in the CASCON workshop? Well, that's not *entirely*
true: we do have a whole hour, but we won't really discuss it. We have the
keynote slot. This is a good chance for promoting
SAF but makes discussions and feedback a bit trickier, and I will have to
socialize a lot afterwards! In any case, next week I will start discussions
about the presentation and content, although it will of course be based on our
educational slidedeck. Cheers, Stavros
