Well yes, of course, the assumption is that the server advertises that it understands MODS. > If it does, then you use whatever abstract index is declared that > represents copyright date in originInfo. But the question is how do you declare an abstract index to correspond to an element? The dc example has a bit of hand waving, I think. When you say <name set="dc">date</name> you're referring to 'dc' as an *index* set, thus "date" refers to the index 'date', but you're implying the *element* <date> (as far as I can interpret the example) a reasonable implication because of the flatness of dc and the correspondence of indexes to elements. But how would you declare the abstract index 'copyrightDate' and define it so it maps to: <mods><originInfo><copyrightDate> --Ray > > Rob > > On Fri, 2008-10-31 at 10:27 -0400, Ray Denenberg, Library of Congress > wrote: > > From: "Rob Sanderson" <azaroth@liverpool.ac.uk> > > > eg: > > > > > > <index sort="true" search="false" scan="false"> > > > <map><name set="dc">date</name></map> > > > </index> > > > > Fairly trivial for DC.
