Subject: Re: [xtm-wg] Fixing language.xtm and country.xtm
* Sam Hunting | | You used the word "rhetoric" in one of your earlier postings, so I | assumed you were familiar with the tools of that trade. The problem was not so much understanding what rhetoric is and how it works as it was understanding what you thought I were saying. | Murray (and I, and I think Nikita) feel that some institutional | questions to be settled in Montreal (we hope) before "real work" can | proceed. We all agree that these questions need to be settled and that that is real work. I did not in any way mean to imply that the institutional, or bureaucratical, if you will, part of the topic maps work is not real work. Where we differ is only on the question of whether real work can be done before the institution is in place. I see no reason to sit still for X months until the institution is back in place. The institution is needed for the publishing of the results of the technical work, but not for the technical work itself. If you choose to differ that is of course your choice and it must ultimately be respected, just as you'll have to respect (as indeed you seem to) that others choose to continue working without waiting for the formal framework to be in place. | So, you see that I have been listening closely to what you say. Always | a good tactic if one wishes to be listened to, eh? Indeed you have, although you read a bit more into my words this time than was actually warranted. --Lars M.
