A description of one actual use (news feeds) is provided in Chapter 7 of the WROX book, Professional XML Meta Data. You might also find leads to other case history info in that chapter, and from some Google searches. One likely source of actual use info would be the representatives of the member commercial entities who are on the XTM standards body.
