Subject: [topicmaps-comment] Re: Let's introduce ! [Re: test of OASIS list]

H. Holger Rath

Director Research & Development at empolis GmbH, a Germany based company
providing content management and knowledge management solutions for
the enterprise. Topic Maps are one of the core technologies empolis'
software products are based-on. empolis is a subsidery of Bertelsmann -
world's 3rd largest media group (after AOL Times Warner and Disney) -
and has international offices Hungary, Norway, Poland, UK, and USA.

I am involved in topic maps since early 1998 when I joined the ISO JTC1 SC34
standards committe which is responsible for SGML, HyTime, DSSSL, and Topic Maps.
I am - together with Lars Marius Garshol - co-editor of the TMQL standards
initiative.

I published numerous papers on topic maps and how they could be extended
to become more useful as knowledge technology. Most of this stuff is used
as base input for the new TMCL (Topic Map Constraint Language) standards
initiative (edited by Steve Pepper).

I am also founding member of the OASIS (still-to-be-approved) TC "Topic Maps Published
Subjects" and the (also still-to-be-approved) OASIS Member Section "TopicMaps.Org".

My colleague Graham Moore and I are responsible for the design and features
of empolis' knowledge server k42 <http://k42.empolis.co.uk>.

Cheers,
--Holger
